Introduction

In the fast-paced environment of the biomedical/biotechnology sector, effectively tracking and managing Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) goals is a vital aspect of maintaining organizational harmony and growth. Dive into our case study to explore how we facilitated a large organization in this sector to define and track their D&I objectives more efficiently using a PowerApps solution.

Business Objective

The D&I team at the organization was tasked with a significant responsibility: handling the data of over 65,000 employees to cascade gender and ethnicity goals derived from market data compression and current representation. This massive data management process was part of their year-end agenda, aiming to streamline the representation analysis across various managerial levels. The initiative intended to create a more inclusive workspace, aligning the organization closer to their D&I aspirations.

Achieving Successful Outcomes
To fulfill these objectives, we proposed a robust solution involving the creation of over eight flows for different calculations and the cascading of these details to more than 5,000 managers. The highlights of our solution included:

Role-Based Access: The app incorporated role-based access, facilitating proxy management for senior leaders, thus offering a tiered access structure for different user categories.

Admin Panel: A comprehensive admin panel was set up to control the flow sequences, add members to AAD, and manage other administrative responsibilities, all from within the app.

Utilizing Microsoft Technologies: Our solution leveraged several Microsoft technologies, including PowerApps, Power Automate, SharePoint Document Library, SharePoint Lists, and Azure Active Directory.

Business Benefits

Implementing this solution brought forth substantial benefits to the organization, such as:

Cost-Efficiency: The solution was achievable with the default Microsoft E3 licensing, thus keeping costs under control.

Quick Turnaround: The project promised Minimum Viable Product 1 (MVP1) within two iterations, culminating in a full product release within five months, which was sooner than anticipated.

Time-Saving: The earlier process, which took over 30 days to set L1 managers' goals, was drastically reduced to a mere four hours, with live data readily available for access.

Conclusion

Our intervention in the organization's D&I goals tracking marked a significant shift towards efficiency and streamlined processes. Through the integration of advanced technologies and an innovative approach, we managed to transform a time-consuming procedure into a streamlined, swift, and more effective process.

Join us in exploring more about how this transformation not only elevated the efficiency of the D&I team but also facilitated the seamless realization of organizational objectives, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious workspace.
